My name is Susie Gonzales. I was born and raised in Alpine, Texas. I'm retired and am volunteering as President of the Holy Angels Cemetery Association in Alpine, where we work to maintain the upkeep of the cemetery, which entails numerous tasks. Holy Angels Cemetery Association was officially established in 1976; the cemetery has been Holy Angels for many years and prior to that, it was named the Mexican Cemetery. Next year in 2026, the Association will be celebrating its 50th official anniversary! We have a board of 9 people who are passionate about preserving the cemetery's sacred spaces and ensuring their continued upkeep and respectful management for future generations.

Our main funding comes from donations, fundraisers, and stipends. As such, we conduct many fundraisers in order to continue our mission, but we face many challenges with fundraising success. We are conducting this GoFundMe account to try to gather funds for projects necessary to preserve the cemetery, i.e., build a new road for access, run new water lines to memorial trees, build new gravesides, and repair structures.
