Our Adventures in Gratitude: A Film
Summer 2018 we will begin work on a personal project capturing lifestyle video, for our own family entitled Our Adventures in Gratitude.
"Our ultimate goal is to capture precious moments with as many people as possible throughout our career to provide them with video memories that surpass a lifetime."
We hope this experience helps us then do this style of cinematic "home movies" for other families.
We are making our first fully scored family film!

BACKGROUND
Seven years ago as a couple we created a rough first attempt at a documentary of open mic nights across the U.S offset by the natural beauty of each region. We had known one another only six months at that time. We were rookies at video and it became a labor of love we will treasure forever.

We have learned a lot since then .
We have toured Germany and surrounding countries with a folk/rock band four times (making music, videos and art) started a production company (video focused on local music & businesses, crowdfunding promos and most recently wedding videography).
We got married in 2014 and had a baby girl, Iris Elouise in 2015. Mike is a professional musician and music teacher, Emily is an artist, designer and photographer.
There is always more to learn, we are ready!
Our business is growing more and more in the direction of working with entrepreneurs building their own dreams and with families looking to have their “American Dream” captured. Life on the road has always worked well for us and we hope to find clients all across the map!
We are testing it out here, on ourselves. We want to tell a story that is honest and beautiful and our idea of wonderful and we want to tell it with film and music.

PROJECT SCOPE
We plan to depart for the entire month of July, making a loop around the U.S filming our daughter witnessing some of the wonders of the world, hearing the regional sounds and meeting the kind-hearted folk of our nation. Our goal is to get back to family basics by living in such tight quarters (our Dodge van), relying on the minimal and seeking out the good that is nestled into every corner of the country all while making art for ourselves and therefore you! This will be Iris's first real step outside the bubble of our current creative local community, she will be a part of the things that brought us together as a couple and inspired us to have a child, it is the start of a grander education on the path of lifelong learning. Mike will be gathering sounds as well as composing brand new material to record his first ever instrumental album that will be the soundtrack for this film. We will then take this experience and integrate cinematic style family videos into our business!
We want this to have tactile results in addition to the audio/visual. We will be compiling sketches, photographs, coloring pages, stories, road recipes and ways to stay healthy and sane while traveling with a little one. This will become a companion 'zine for all ages.
(I anticipate a book in our future!)
The FUN
To make this engaging for all and to get input from our followers and supporters we will have a jar.
What? That doesn't sound like fun?
Okay, so this jar will be for Iris. Into it we will put map clippings and ideas from YOU, we will let Iris draw from this jar daily and will work the bit into our schedule for the month. One example would be "Go to a local park and meet another two year old to play with" or "Find a place that has fossils" or "Give a $10 to a street performer". We will be looking for creative and friendly ideas that will push us to be spontaneous and to find nooks and crannies not necessarily in our itinerary.
The FUNDING
These pre order funds will be used to offset costs when creating the multimedia final results...a fully mixed and mastered EP of original instrumental music (M&M with Kenny Lewis @ Mixed Emotions Studio, printed via Discmakers), a DVD of the scored documentary (Printed by Discmakers) and a printed companion 'zine (Printed locally at ISS in Shirley, MA). We hope you enjoy the rewards we have assigned to each tier for your early ordering and support! We are open to substitutions on the big ticket pre order pledges if you are not local, just message us!
Our estimated media costs:
Studio time, DVD/CD/Zine/Download Card Reproduction approx. $1400
All the gas, food and additional travel expenses incurred are not reflected in the pre order goal.

Our job is to challenge ourselves to bring you gorgeous video of the good and beauty that resides all within one country and to show it from a unique perspective, that of a two year old. We hope to inspire others and as always, ourselves and we hope to see you and yours on the other side of our lens at some point!
Gratitude...the title for our project says it all, "Our Adventures in Gratitude" will be an ongoing lifestyle for us of capturing wonder and creativity (human and nature made) with the mindset of gratefulness and optimism. It can be easy to succumb to the despair of the world, for us we have found that tuning into the good is personally the only way we can survive this and hopefully thrive.
We hope that others will hitch a metaphorical ride on this journey! For that we have an undying gratitude.
COMPLETION
We are looking to have the project begin completion in March 2019, this date may fluctuate (reflecting the completion of 1-2 -3 parts, trailer/sneak peek/artist zine/full multimedia package). Many of our rewards will be delivered or services provided (with exception of CD, DVD & 'Zine) before then. This includes lessons, photo shoots, t- shirts, house concerts and more which we can begin booking immediately after the pledge! All pledge makers will receive a postcard and a mention in our film credits as well as a shout out on social media! We will need addresses and t-shirt sizes for delivery purposes.
