I have a very soft spot in my heart for families going through the trauma of a prematurely born infants and am incredibly thankful for the expert care available in NICUs.
As a grandmother of a surprise prematurely born baby, I felt that I had a mission. I witnessed my son and daughter in law go through four months of trauma and anxiety as they cared for their tiny son who was born at 1 pound 14 ounces. There were hours upon hours spent with nothing to do but hope and pray, worry and stress about what the outcome would be.
My mission came through the creation of a book that would be a tool all preemie parents could use when sitting in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit by their baby's tiny incubator.
I wrote two books: A Crisis of Heart and Hope and William and the NICU. These books are bound together in one helpful volume, filled with holistic ideas for parents, grandparents, and caregivers. There’s a section for parents or grandparents and a “picture storybook” for small children— so it’s a two-in-one book.
There are five different stories from the perspectives of the mother, father, grandpa, and grandma. And at the end, the story is told through the eyes of the preemie baby.

I have self-published 500 more copies of the book, thanks to the generosity of my community donating to this GoFundMe. These books will continue to be donated to hospitals and neonatal intensive care units across the United States. 41 hospitals have already received the books, and many more will receive them in the near future.
Future funding to this GoFundMe account will go towards the support of NICU caregivers with continuing education scholarship funding. In addition, we wish to continue to give away this book to preemie families.
