Prayers for Parry

Over a year ago, Josh got injured while working and developed severe pain in his lower back.  After multiple trips to the ER, his PCP, and even a spine specialist, his pain was dismissed as a musculoskeletal injury and insurance refused to cover an MRI.  The doctors prescribed him pain medications and cleared him for work.  Unfortunately, the pain continued to worsen.  Josh wasn’t able to fully lay down or sleep in his own bed for weeks.

As Josh and Maria welcomed home their third son, Josh’s pain was completely uncontrolled.  Five days after Andrew was born, Josh went to stand up from the couch, and his legs completely gave out.  An ambulance was called, and the stat MRI showed a mass on a large section of his spine that was compressing his spinal cord.  He was taken to the OR for emergent decompression surgery.  After a series of more testing, Josh was told that the mass was caused by Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

His team of doctors immediately began rounds of intensive chemo.  After months of fighting, he finally appeared to be in remission.  Life seemed to be getting back to “normal.”  Josh was getting stronger and able to walk again.

Things started to go down hill again around Christmas time.  Josh developed more pain in his face and head.  Another MRI revealed ALL through his brain and another mass wrapped around a nerve along his jaw.  So they started more chemo and full brain radiation therapy.  His doctors decided that a bone marrow transplant (BMT) was his next best option.

About 5 weeks ago, Josh was in the hospital and came down with both the flu and a fungal pneumonia.  His team struggled to get his blood counts to stay up and fevers to stay down during.  A repeat MRI was done during that time, and sadly showed that the ALL in his brain had grown and spread.  These results meant that Josh was no longer a candidate for BMT.

Now Josh and his family are at a stand-still as they wait for the doctors to decide the next best treatment plan.  Clinical trials with CAR-T cell therapy are being considered but for now, we can only wait.  Wait and pray that God is in control and will heal Josh.

Thank you all for your continued support during this time.  Every donation is so greatly appreciated.  Please continue to pray for a blessing over every aspect of their lives- spiritually, mentally and physically. For strength and healing for Josh.  For peace and rest for Maria.  For continued good health for their 3 children.  And for wisdom for Josh’s team of doctors.

Please share so that more and more people can join us in lifting Josh and his family up in prayer!!
