Help Jay beat Cancer

Donation protected
Hello, I'm starting this campaign to help my dad, Jay Spahr.  He was diagnosed with prostate cancer 2 years ago.  It was in the advanced stage and diagnosed an unoperable.  The oncologist said he could not heal dad, but could extend his life with chemotherapy.  Dad completed his first round of chemotherapy with flying colors, dropping his psi numbers and shrinking the cancer.  Unfortunately the cancer has made its way to his lymph nodes in the abdominal area.  It has been almost 1 year since his final chemo treatment last July.  Most recently, he has experienced several painful urinary blockages requiring emergency treatments to clear them and these treatments are very painful for my dad.  He has had two surgical procedures clearing the blockages which require wearing a cathater ... the last time was 21 days and the most recent surgery was last week and the urologist informed us that he may have to either self cathater daily or consider having a catheter all the time because his prostate is so enlarged it is blocking the urethra.   During the last procedure, the surgeon actually removed part of the prostate just to get the catheter through to the bladder.  The next thing we do is get a CT scan, scheduled for Wednesday July 5 which will tell us whats happening with the cancer now.

I want to thank everyone who is praying for dad.  He is a father of 4 and literally one of the most giving, gracious, loving, fun, hard working, tenacious, supportive and best dad, friend and man I know.   Jay (dad) has always been there to help me and anyone who needs help.  He will drive 100 miles, inconvenience himself, give you his last dollar, feed you... whatever anyone needs, he has always been there.  He celebrates life and surrounds himself with amazing people who also love life.  He never forgets people and makes friends and family a priority.  It's hard to keep this man down... he's a busy body, always going somewhere, can't sit still, fixing or building something, he's always been a self made man, self employed plumber and contractor.

Many of you have asked what you can do to help him.  So, I decided to set up this go fund me page.  Dad and my step mom are retired (mostly because dad cannot work anymore, although he tries when he can).  Their income is of course limited and they have medicare to help pay for medical expenses.  What we are finding though is that many treatments that I would like to have him try are hollistic, non traditional and outside of their insurance plan.  They require regular maintenance and are costly on a limited income.  In addition, they have limitations on their daily needs and insurance does not cover in home care.  My step mother needs a hip replacement is has difficulty getting around, dad currently has a bag and is in pain.  During my visit, I became aware of just how difficult daily tasks are... putting on socks, getting groceries, driving, getting to the doctors, etc.    They are in Florida and all of us are either in PA or in CA, leaving their amazing friends to help them, which they all do daily.

I would like  to help with in home care, finance hollistic approaches to cancer and help with daily needs of, cleaning, and meals etc.

A little help goes a long way and of course PRAYER is so much appreciated.  Dad (Jay) is depressed because his life has been limited to the sofa and dealing with discomfort and pain.   I believe your love, and prayers can help.

Here is their address if you wish to send cards:
810 Vernon Avenue, Taveres, FL 32778

All funds collected will go directly for dad's daily needs and treatments.

THANK YOU in advance for your help and prayers.  I believe it's the time when his good Karma be returned.

To know Jay is to LOVE him.
