Dear Family, freinds, and others,
On January 10, 2015, Carolyn was rushed to the emergency room with severe coughing and stomach pains. The emergency room doctors first gave her a chest x-ray. The results came back showing a fist size tumor on top of her right lung. The emergency room doctors then decided to do a cat scan from her throat to her pelvis. The results were devestating. The CAT scan showed an additional, smaller tumor, which is also on the right side of her lung. It also showed tumor growths on her liver and adrenal glands, as well as a perforated bowel. Carolyn was immediately taken for emergency surgery. The surgeon disected the cancerous part of the bowel and found many lymph nodes. They were sent to pathology for testing. Carolyn was then taken to the intensive care unit. She was placed in a medically induced coma and put on a ventilator to breathe. After one day, they allowed Carolyn to attempt to breathe on her own. That lasted just a few hours because the doctors discovered that the tumor was preventing her right lung from functioning, so she was placed back on a ventilator and in a medically induced coma. As of this letter, Carolyn is still in the same state. The doctors have started some radiation treatment to the large tumor to try and shrink it. We are hoping that this will allow the right lung to start functioning again.
Carolyn has three, beautiful, young girls that love and adore their mom and miss her being at home. It has been extremely hard for them. Unfortunately, Carolyn does not have any medical insurance. She was the only one working because her husband was injured on the job working as a police officer. Carolyn worked three jobs just to help make ends meet and to give to her children. Anything that you could do to support this wonderful family would be very appreciated.
