Publishing Prayer Wheel

Poetry and story were the supports around which the morning glory of my spirit twined and bloomed. For 14 years of my life, I have been a writer and a poet. Though I walked away from the wordsmith’s path for a few years, it was but briefly—for these things cannot be long denied.

And so, like marigold ready to burst forth in the Spring, so my poetry is now ready to bloom; it incubated beneath the loam of my subconscious for several turnings of seasons, mingling with Jungian archetypes, my secret hopes, and the paintings of the collective unconscious.

And now, I ask you to dream with me.

The modest goal of this campaign is to secure enough funds for a successful self-publishing endeavor. The funds will allow me to finish the editing process and to order physical, print copies of the poetry collection.

The goal is to have the funds secured by Christmas and to have the book published and distributed at the start of next year. 

Why is this important to me?

Because my bardic soul began to awaken when I entered my twelfth autumn. There was a poetry unit at school, and I surprised myself by being good at something for the first time in my life. I felt what the ancient Irish druids called Imbas, or inspiration of the spirit, and I’ve been writing ever since. Wordsmithing fills me with a joy and an inspiration like few other things in this life.

But more importantly, reading poetry has brought light to my life and song to my heart, especially authors such as Pablo Neruda, Leslie Marmon Silko, and Ofelia Zepeda. I hope that now, in my own turn, I can share that light with you. For what good is a song if you sing it only to yourself? What good is an untold story?  I honor you and invite you to share with me in this journey.
