Kyle’s story is somewhat unique for a handsome, athletic young man. This is a young man that has overcome many obstacles & by all rights could be demanding to be heard. Instead, Kyle always puts others ahead of himself.
Kyle has helped support his two younger siblings in school & sports with equipment, time & his own hard earned money. It didn’t matter that he was saving to transfer to a 4 yr school. His brothers were, and still are, simply more important. This is just who Kyle is with everyone. Kyle embodies what we should all strive to be; selfless!
Kyle finally reached his goal against all odds. He transferred to a four year University & was living it up. He suspected something was not right with his health, so he sought medical attention. After being dismissed almost a year ago by doctors because it was believed cancer was out of the question, they discovered a tumor recently upon going back. After waiting weeks for results, Kyle was told he had stage 3 colorectal cancer, with potential spots on his lymph nodes and liver. Unfortunately, the tumor is too large to remove without severe complications. The doctors have decided to shrink the tumor first with radiation and chemo therapy before attempting surgery. Even though he is blessed with insurance, the co pays & deductibles as well as the hidden costs can be crippling for a young man unable to work.
This is where we need help. Kyle has spent all his resources on others as well as for school. He no longer has a car because he couldn’t afford the insurance as a student, nor the maintenance required to keep the cars running. Getting to treatment and doctors appointments will be difficult without a car. Kyle lives in rural area and public transportation is not available.
