As a complication of 22q deletion syndrome, Waverly has tetralogy of fallot and pulmonary atresia with ventricular septal defect. Josh and Ryane have been told to expect many heart surgeries over the course of her childhood. Let’s support them with prayers and financial assistance as they face the major “full repair” surgery on March 5th at Lurie Children’s Hosital in Chicago. Please consider giving financially to help with extensive medical bills and costs of travel/living in another city for an extended time. Your donations will also help ease the challenge of multiple weeks of unpaid leave from work for Josh and Ryane. Thank you for praying for this precious family as they journey through this challenging territory. We trust that God is in control and pray He will guide the surgeon’s hands.
The surgery will consist of three parts. First, removing her central shunt (this was placed last August) and using donor tissue to create a conduit that will allow blood to flow from her heart to her lungs. Second, closing the hole between the bottom two chambers of her heart. Third, restoring blood flow to portions of her lung that were negatively affected from her previous surgery. The surgery will last approximately 8 hours and Waverly will likely be in the hospital for 2-3 weeks afterwards.
