Prayers and Support for Raul Morales' Final Care

Hello, my name's Isabel Morales,

I'd like to share my father's story with you all! My father's name is Raul Morales, as some of you know him by the name "Gumby." My father was diagnosed back in November of 2023. My dad kept getting these "dizzy spells," as he would call them. But they weren't just any odd "dizzy spell"; they appeared to be seizures. But not just any seizure. My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer! This brain cancer is named Glioblastoma! Glioblastomas (also called GBM) are malignant (cancerous) grade 4 tumors. The tumor is predominantly made up of abnormal astrocytic cells but also contains a mix of different cell types (including blood vessels) and areas of dead cells (necrosis). Glioblastomas are diffusely infiltrative and invade nearby regions of the brain. They can also sometimes spread to the opposite side of the brain through connection fibers (corpus callosum) or the ventricular system. In this case, he started off with 2 masses in the brain, one the size of a nickel located on his left side and another that was just located near it. The one the size of a nickel went through 28 days of chemo and radiation treatment in January of 2024. My dad wasn't able to get surgery done due to the fact of where this tumor is located. It's located right next to the main brain cells: speech, mobility, vision. So, doctors said it would be risky! He then lost the ability to speak in or around April of 2024. Verbally, he was not able to speak as clearly. He had more than several MRIs done and had good news that after treatment, his tumor had reduced in size but still had a lot of swelling around the tumor! So, they started him on immunotherapy. Glioblastoma is an aggressive brain cancer with a poor prognosis. Immunotherapy, which aims to stimulate the patient's immune system to fight cancer cells, is a promising treatment strategy for glioblastoma. He was receiving this treatment since May of 2024. He had confusion and was very weak! He started to realize his health wasn't the same! In October of 2024, he stopped receiving this immunotherapy due to other complications he was having. Due to these other underlying conditions, it kept him from being able to receive this treatment. He had two surgeries! After the first one, his way of thought changed drastically! His ability to walk or move wasn't the same! In November, he was left to depend on a walker! As time passed, he became more and more weaker! Less ability to eat, move, speak. In January of 2025, he had the second procedure done due to an infection! Two weeks later, my dad is now with liquid in his lungs and sepsis due to the infection from pneumonia. We wait and pray. My father will be sent to his residence to follow through with final care with hospice! As I type this not knowing what will be made out of this, I ask for prayers! For my father Raul E. Morales "Gumby" and for my family that we now have to prepare ourselves in this time! I come to you, to let y'all know anything and everything is much appreciated! Most importantly, prayers!
