<div>This is baby Gino, he spent the majority of the month of May in the PICU at Childrens UPMC where he underwent 3 brain surgeries for multiple issues (hydrocephalus) being the biggest issue. While being in the hospital he had several complications including an infection around his brain shunt, his hemoglobin dropped which required a blood transfusion and then his last MRI before he was getting ready to be discharged he developed a blood clot which required close monitoring and Lovenox shots to dissolve the clot. Long story short, these past 9 months our family has fought battles only the closest to us know. Gino recovered from all this amazingly though and that was our main priority. He is now walking, talking, a typical normal 1 year old. Our family over the past few weeks thought this nightmare is FINALLY coming to an end (things were falling into place)but then We got the gut wrenching news that Gino is going to need yet another surgery after they found that his papilledema had returned (increased intracranial pressure causing the papilledema) They explained with him having the pressure we need a different kind of shunt called a Ventriculoperitoneal(VP) which will be inside the ventricles of his brain to drain more of the fluid. We have had a huge support system from family, friends, coworkers and that helped us survive all this. Ginos mom has tried working again but now with him requiring another surgery she needs to take time off work to be with Gino. Hospital stays and being off work really makes it rough. We are hoping this GoFund me will take some of the burden off mom (Amiya) as far as the financial end. Anything would help and would be greatly appreciated. Can we also get lots and lots of prayers that Ginos surgery goes smoothly and prayers to help his mama to endure this next surgery.
