Pray for our Julz

As most of you are aware my Mum has been on life support and a ECMO machine since the 1st Jan 2018. I’m hoping to raise some money so that my Dad can have sometime off work to be with her and get ahead with bills. I would appreciate it if everyone would keep this on the quiet side as he is not the type to ask for money or anything like that and would just love to surprise him and give him a helping hand so that he can be with his wife and not drown in all these bills. He is self employed so gets paid as he works and can’t afford to be off, he has been through such a roller coaster with my mum and loves her so dearly, we have been told at one stage to prepare for her death as she is extremely critical and the sickest person in QLD, and that she is the sickest a person can get prior to death. she is on a life support and ECMO machine, this is all due to double pneumonia and some form of unknown virus, they have done so many tests and just can’t seem to pin point what it is, so they are unable to treat it and are just giving her everything possible. They have given her 3 lots of massive doses of steroids to try help fight this off as her lungs are rock solid, which could take a week or so to show any form of improvement. She is only alive right now thanks to the ECMO machine which is working as her lungs. If her lungs don’t start to soften and clear she will be sent to Brisbane for assessment of a lung transplant which is very risk, if she is unsuccessful in the assessment they pretty much don’t have any other option left for her, if the transplant is a go ahead and a match is found, she will then have to stay in a Brisbane hospital being an hour drive each way for us, so my dad will need this time off to be with her. She would need at least 12+ months to recover and will need rehabilitation as she might not be able to walk, talk or eat when she is out of her coma and everything else and won’t be returning to work for a long time if ever.

We have been told recently she is improving the tiniest little bit, but we have to take it day by day as she is just so critical and anything can happen.

My mother is too young to pass away! She has too much to leave behind being a loving husband, 3 kids and 3 beautiful grandchildren under the age of 3. We pray every night for her to get better and just pull through this.

We thank everyone for the love and support we have received over the past fortnight and appreciate everything you are all doing for us.

We have been extremely happy with the GCUH as they are doing everything they can do right now for her and won’t give up on her.
