Pray for Ezequiel

The day after a family-filled New Year, my father, a truck driver decided to pick up a load he was not originally assigned to, but due to his devotion to our family and the expenses coming in from my school, the University of Florida, he endured the trip to make the extra cash.

For those who don't know my father, he is an upbeat individual with a shining personality. He's always thriving to be the center of attention and will do anything to make people smile. While his family is his number one love, second place goes to the Miami Dolphins. He is a strong-hearted man who does everything for his family, so we want to be able to provide for him when he cannot.

On January 2nd, my father, Ezequiel Alonso, left to work and was picking up a load in Moulterie, Georgia when he experienced difficulties with his truck. He was forced to stop the truck on the side of the road. As he was fixing a mechanical issue, a Jeep struck him and dragged him across the road. The ambulance was called immediately and he was taken to John D. Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, Georgia.

My father suffered multiple facial fractures, cracked ribs, internal bleeding, a brain bleed, and an irreparable left leg. The doctors were forced to amputate his left leg above the knee in order to save his life. He's currently in the Intensive Care Unit on a ventilator in hopes of waking up soon….

My father, Ezequiel Alonso, is not only a husband and father of two, but is also the sole provider of our household. He works for his own company, Shana Transport Inc., so without being able to work there is no income to currently rely on. Since he works for his own company, he does not have health insurance.

My older sisters from my mother's side are trying to contribute as much as they can, but can only do so much in the long run.

However, the costs of this hospital stay and the multiple surgeries he endured are not the end of the road.

As I mentioned, he has an irreparable left leg, which means that in the long run he will be fitted for a prosthetic leg and go through months of rehabilitation therapy. The money raised through this account will ALL go toward my father's medical bills, his new leg, as well as therapy. Without these funds, it is unlikely that we would be able to pay these bills or afford a prosthetic leg. Please I ask you from a son that is trying to juggle so many roles, while being a full time student. This is going to be a huge adjustment in his life and we want to be able to provide him with the opportunity to live life as he did before this accident…
