Rome, 1530. Shortly after the Sack, the city remains devastated. Cultural life, however, has not surrendered.

In fact, it is at this very moment that the first book of madrigals in history is printed, featuring music by the illustrious Philippe Verdelot, Constanzo and Sebastiano Festa, Clément Janequin, and others—including many pieces that have not been heard in modern times...

Until now! While one partbook has unfortunately been lost, thanks to a careful and rigorous reconstruction of the missing voice, we have been able to revive these madrigals for the first time. We hope Mr. Verdelot would appreciate the effort. What about you?

Additionally, we are excited to announce that the full collection, recorded by us at Prattica di musica, will soon be available as a CD, in both digital and printed formats.

While we are passionate about this project, bringing it to life involves significant costs, including the rental of the recording venue, recording and production, travel and accomodation expenses and compensations for the time dedicated by the artists. About us

Prattica di musica was founded in Venice in 2020 by young musicians decided to explore, with their artistic research, the landscape of Renaissance and early Baroque vocal music.

The ensemble first met in 2020, when it was for the masterclass "Cantar distanti" at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, with Marco Mencoboni and Pedro Memelsdorff. In 2021, it featured in two documentaries broadcasted respectively by Rai5 and Sky Arte. In 2022, we have received a certificate of merit for the promotion of early music in Belgium by the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Bruxelles. In 2023, our ensemble was chosen for the young ensemble showcase "Première" at FestiVita - Brussels Early Music Festival.

One of our goals is to create an opportunity for musicians with different backgrounds to collaborate, the young generations together with the more experienced professionals. Moreover, we strive to present artistically high quality and original programs, both in the research we do on the repertoire and in the way we perform it.

Roma, 1530. Poco dopo il Sacco, la città è ancora devastata. La vita culturale, tuttavia, non si è arresa.

Infatti, è proprio in questo momento e in questo luogo che il primo libro di madrigali della storia è stato stampato, con musica degli illustri Philippe Verdelot, Constanzo e Sebastiano Festa, Clément Janequin ed altri—fra cui un numero di madrigali inauditi in tempi moderni...

Fino ad oggi. Sebbene uno dei libri parti sia andato perduto, grazie ad un meticoloso lavoro di ricostruzione della voce mancante, siamo stati in grado di rivivere questi madrigali per la prima volta!

Inoltre, siamo lieti di annunciarvi che l'intera raccolta, registrata da noi di Prattica di musica, sarà presto disponibile come CD.

Per quanto questo progetto ci appassioni, realizzarlo implica costi significativi - inclusi l'affitto della sala, costi di registrazione e produzione, spese di viaggio e alloggio e un compenso per il tempo dedicato dagli artisti. Rome, 1530. Peu après le Sac de Rome, la ville reste dévastée. Cependant, la vie culturelle n’a pas capitulé.

En fait, c’est à ce moment précis que le premier livre de madrigaux de l’histoire est imprimé, avec des compositions des illustres Philippe Verdelot, Constanzo et Sebastiano Festa, Clément Janequin, et d’autres—y compris de nombreuses pièces inouïes à l’époque moderne...

Jusqu'à présent. Bien qu’un livre-partie ait malheureusement été perdu, grâce à une reconstruction minutieuse et rigoureuse de la voix manquante, nous avons pu ressusciter ces madrigaux pour la première fois. Nous espérons que M. Verdelot apprécierait l’effort. Et toi ?

De plus, nous sommes heureux d’annoncer que l’entièreté de ce recueil , enregistrée par nous chez Prattica di musica, sera bientôt disponible en CD.

Bien qu’on soit guidés par notre passion, un projet similaire implique des coûts importants, y compris la location de la salle, les couts d'enregistrement et production, les frais de voyage et hébergement et une compensation pour le temps dédié par les artistes.
