THANK YOU! We have reached our goal! But there is a great deal more we can do to help. With the blessings and deep thanks of Prabha and Frankie, we have disabled donations to this campaign and instead suggest future donations be made to PECES , a local grass-roots organization working hard on hurricane relief for Prabha's and Frankie's community in southeastern Puerto Rico. Prabha Nambiar Papali worked at Park School from 1988 to 2008 as science teacher, Department Head and is a loving friend to all. She and her husband Frankie retired to Puerto Rico where Frankie's family lives. Their life and home have been devastated by Hurricane Maria, and now it is time for those of us who are able in the Park School community to rally to help them.
Our funding goal is just the beginning of the effort but will certainly help with critical life-saving needs as they start to rebuild their lives. Their son Fred Papali has been there once and is planning more trips to provide assistance. Blessedly, he found them alive but day to day life is extremely difficult. Relief is slow getting there and we don't know what FEMA will ultimately provide. All of the money raised from this campaign will go directly to their son Fred, a physician in Washington, DC who will, with their input, make decisions on what they need in order to live and rebuild their home. We know that he has already sent a generator, work boots,tarps, water, water filters and canned food.
The situation is dire but they are safe for now and living one day at a time. Fred says Prabha and Frankie are so grateful for the emotional support that many Park School people have sent via Fred. Now lets go beyond prayers and good thoughts and actually do something. Donors will receive updates via this GofundMe website so that you can know how your contribution is helping.
