Medical Mission Trip to Guatemala!

As some of you may know, I am currently in nursing school at Florida Atlantic University. As you also may know, my life was completely changed 4 years ago when I traveled to Guatemala on a mission trip, to help people in the village of San Juan Moca who live in exreme poverty.  I chose to go to nursing school because of my passion for caring that was sparked when I went on this trip and now, I am extremely blessed to be able to travel again, with my school, to multiple other villages in Guatemala.  This time around, I will be travelling to Santa Cruz, San Juan de Laguna, and San Martin Jilotepeque where myself and other students will screen children for disease, give them medicine for de-worming and other medical issues, paint fluoride varnish on their teeth, and teach them hand and dental hygiene. I will also travel to Santa Maria de Jesus to do foot care clinics and screenings for older adults with diabetes and hypertension. Then, I will re-visit the town of Antigua, to install woodstoves in the houses of families who are living in extreme poverty. Your donations will be used for air fare, meals, hotel, transportation, and to (hopefully) purchase one wood stove to donate to a family in need.  My first trip to Guatemala was the reason why I decided to go to medical school, and the reason why I now have such a passion for traveling and caring for people who are in need. I am very thrilled to finally be able to put my training and skills to work for people who truly deserve it. For many of these people, this will betheir first time being seen by any sort of health care provider. My goal is to raise enough money by December 2018.  I am finally headed back to the country and people who stole my heart!
