THE EMERGENCY NEED
My name is Sarah Wells and I'm the founder of a successful US-based small business (sarahwellsbags.com), where I've supported new moms with products like breast pump bags for a decade.
During the Coronavirus/COVID19 crisis, I have pivoted, launching Momlife Response, to use my deep knowledge of and partnerships with foreign manufacturers to source critical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at market-fair prices for essential workers.
In the first 24-hours of offering these crucial supplies, I heard from dozens and dozens of health workers and smaller groups whose PPE needs are too small in quantity (e.g., 200 masks, 5 boxes of gloves) to order from the global supply chain (where the minimum order is in the tens or hundreds of thousands of units and requires 100% up-front payment). And, they cannot find even small quantities on the US market because of a severe shortage of masks and other PPE. Straight talk - we don't have the resources to front 100% of the funds to place an order that would allow us to then fulfill small orders like this, and it was heartbreaking to say no to people that clearly needed help.
We thought hard about this -- what can we do to help these people with smaller requirements?
That's where this GoFundMe comes in -- by leveraging your support, we can achieve the scale required to make a large volume purchase that we can then distribute to smaller organizations. And we can provide these critical supplies for free rather than selling them at market prices. This is a chance for all of us to make a lifesaving difference for smaller health care practices, community groups and organizations that need these important supplies now more than ever.

We are currently accepting applications for donated PPE in units of <500 from smaller organizations and practices in the United States, serving as essential workers/groups during the COVID19 crisis. Depending on the time it takes to fund this initiative, we expect to have PPE ready to ship within 30 days. We will review all applications and begin distribution as quickly as we can. Please note: we are not providing PPE to individuals who are not currently serving in an essential worker capacity.
