Here at CDUK we are raising money to help unemployed mothers with HIV in Rwanda who are dying slowly because they do not have food to take with their medication and so leave their children orphans. You can help to save their lives.
We are raising money to build a Sewing Cooperative where mothers with HIV can work together to earn money to support their children.
Due to local prejudice others refuse to work with HIV victims for fear of catching the disease .
With a sewing workshop the HIV mothers will be able to learn a trade and support each other towards a sustainable future.
While our Chairman - Ros, was researching projects in Rwanda she met a group of 70 mothers with HIV who told her their story and what they needed. They said there were many more mothers who would have liked to come to meet her but that they were either too ill as a result of the disease or had no clothes to wear.
The Church where we met also runs a school and a food programme that feeds 150 children once a day. More than 60 of the children were orphans and the meal might be all they have to live on.
Please help us to help these poor women who are ill through no fault of their own.
For every man with HIV there are 5 women who become infected.
