Post-surgery Support for Margaux K

Margaux is a trans feminist writer, organizer, and chronically ill dyke. she is undergoing vaginoplasty/genital reconstruction surgery because for the past decade she has had this recurring dream where she wakes up and her genitals are different -- hers. waking fully from this dream, there's only an ache. she has always felt things this way: first as a bodily sensation and then as thought. this sensation is a sinking in her stomach, a numbness that sits under the acute stabbing of chronic stomach pain, something that lingers somewhere at the intersection of how is harmed by how her body is read, and how she feels her genitals as an open wound. estrogen has helped immensely; after four years of hormone therapy things do feel different, more livable. but there is still the ache. this surgery is about finding a way to address that ache, to persist in waking life. 

Fund Breakdown:
Goal: $2000

Thank you to her lovely friends, Margaux has been able to get loans to cover the $12, 500 surgeon’s fee up front. Insurance will be covering the $8000 in hospital fees  between $7,500-9,000 of the surgeon’s fee but the insurance company have been extremely vague about how much exactly they will cover. So, between the at least $3500 that will be left, along with a $500 insurance deductible, $250 to rent a room above the surgeon’s clinic, and $600 to cover transportation, food, and other recovery expenses. Thus, she has at least $4800 in expenses. We are trying to raise $2000 of this in order to help her get through her recovery and be okay.
