My medical and living expenses

My name is Jami Ginn, and I have colon cancer. I just turned 30 at the end of last month. I have always been rather healthy, and as I am not even close to the age range for this kind of cancer, nor do I have a family history of the disease, this has been a huge shock and whirlwind to myself and my family. In February I had started a new job, finally getting out of the food sevice industry, for which I was SO grateful. Feeling like my real life was finally about to begin, my fiance` and I had begun to plan a wedding, after seven years of courtship. Things seemed to be coming together, and I was extremely excited about having a job with stability- insurance, 401k, etc. A month or so in, I began to have some stomach issues. I really thought it was just stress, or maybe my body going through some hormonal changes. As withmost employers,  my benefits would take six months or so to kick in, and with car payments, rent, life, I put off paying out of pocket to go to a doctor, thinking, "Oh, I 'll get there when my insurance takes effect." About a month before that happened, things got quickly and drastically worse. I began to have severe abdominal pain, constipation, and soon after that a LOT of nausea. I began to swell, bloat, and be in too much pain to do very much of anything.  I paid the money, went to see a doctor (actually two), who both sent me home to take some over the counter medication and said I was just "stopped up". I tried all of the suggestions, but as things got worse, I eventually ended up at the ER. Tests were ran, blood was drawn, nothing was found, and once more, I was sent home. A week later my fiance` rushed me to Saint Francis hospital, where I refused to leave until something was figured out. That was on a Thursday. By Sunday night, I  (a 125lb, very petite and small-framed person) had swollen to the size of a person eight or nine months pregnant. They rushed me into emergency surgery, where they discovered my colon had cracked, ripped, split, and everything else, as well as discovering I had a blockage in my bowels. Part of my colon was removed, my appendix was taken, and a lot of waste had to be released as well. The blockage was removed, and unbeknownst to me at the time, sent off for pathology. I had to have surgery again on Monday, to ensure all had been fixed, and was simply so relieved not to bein pain anymore, that I truly thought the story was over and I would be getting back to life in no time.  A few hours later, the surgical team arrived in my room with some very serious faces. They said cancer. I didn't know what they were talking about. They said oncologist. I was sure this was the wrong room they were in. I slept, and the next morning a man who very closely resembled Don Corleone arrived and told myself and my family that I had Stage 3 Colon cancer. He said it very likely that it had all been removed during surgery, but expressed the need for me to have chemotherapy to be entirely sure.  As it stands today, I do not know if I have cancer at this monent or not. I won't find out until my colon/bowels heal, and we begin to treat that part of this ordeal. I am choosing to believe that I do not have cancer, that it has all been removed, and the chemo is just a preeemptive step. Gotta stay positive, man.  I have gone through all of this with no medical insurance. I am on leave from that new job, which I hadn't even worked at long enough to qualify for any short term disability. So, while I still have a job, I have no benefits, and no earnings. I typically do not believe in asking for money. I was raised thatif you worked hard enough, you could earn what you needed and God would provide the rest. This just doesn't apply in these circumstances. I have plans to try to qualify tor SSI and Medicaid, but I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that I have expenses in the meantime that I have no way to meet. So I am asking for help.  Anything that someone could donate would be more than apppreciated. I don't need all of my medical bills paid, or anything like that, but I do need enough money to pay my monthly bills, eat, and have essential life stuff until I can qualify for some kind of help, or at least get well enough to begin working again. I am so grateful for all that has been done for me already, and the generosity of my friends and family has been truly overwhelming. Just to have come out of all this alive has filled me with such a joy and gratitude, I cannot explain to you how happy I am every day. Please consider my story and help only if you are truly able. Times are tough for everyone these days, and I know God is in the middle of all of this. I hope everyone who reads this, even if they cannot afford to assist, will take a few moments every day to be grateful for life, and appreciate the beauty in every single monent we get to be here. Thank you for your time, and God bless each and every one of you. I love you!
