Dear Friends, Family and Supporters.
I have recently had the opportunity to volunteer with positive life Kenya (PLK). This is a non-profit organisation in Kenya with the mission to break the cycle of poverty and gender-based inequality.
This is achieved by promoting active participation of communities through 3 social pillars.
• The health program – This covers, sexual reproduction health rights, HIV program, child marriages, female genital mutilation, corporal punishment and sexual gender-based violence.
• Child & Youth program – This covers education and early childhood development, life skills and child protection.
• Livelihood support program – This covers skills trade, micro finance and enterprise.
Most of these activities happen in Faraja house, this is a community house. They care for the most vulnerable women and children in their community. Faraja house believe that everyone plays a role in changing the socio-economic construct of poverty. The word Faraja is Swahili for comfort. The most vulnerable women and children come to this house as a safe house from the trauma they experience every day.
They urgency of this matter cannot be overstated, Faraja house and PLK need your support to make sure they can continue to provide the services that are so urgently needed in this community.
Any donation no matter how small will make an enormous difference to the women and children of this community which live in unimaginable conditions.
Thank you in advance,
Geraldine
