Hey folks,
Some of who are reading this may remember me doing one of these a few months back to help finish a film project I was working on.
Well, the film project has been completed and it's making festival rounds currently.
I am screening at a festival in Winnipeg and a festival in Toronto this coming October. The film is competing in the Reel Pride Film Festival's short film competition in Winnipeg.
The film will also screen at a festival in Toronto, announcement pending... but I am very excited about this one and believe it would be pivotal to the films success if I was there to represent it.
Positions, (2018)
Basically, I need to go to these festivals. Attending them will not only help me as a film maker but will be so helpful to my work as a film programmer at VQFF.
I am still in debt over the creation of the project and I cannot afford to travel myself. So, I am asking for help from communities.
At the end of the day I think that story telling changes lives, and I believe the project I'm travelling with has the ability to not only make people feel seen but to open up peoples eyes to a very human experience.
I want to tell stories that center indigenous identities through and through, that come from our tongues and beings. Attending these festivals will give me the opportunity to build community with other creators and hopefully open doors for these narratives.
