Hello everyone! We are Portland Community Defense Training, a brand new, BIPOC & LGBTQ+ led and operated project.

Our Mission is "To provide Black, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and other marginalized communities with tools and training for the purposes of self and community defense."

After the events at numerous capitols on Jan 6th, we find it prudent that we begin educating and training our communities to be able to protect and defend ourselves. To do so, we will provide training and education in three core areas: self defense, firearms safety, and first aid training.

We will be developing a website soon that will provide a more in-depth look at what we plan to offer and how we want to help serve the community. We will also be putting out a survey to gather everyone's input on what you would like us to prioritize.

In the meantime, we would like to get some things going!

Ammo prices are unaffordable, especially since COVID, elections, and the panic buying that's been going on. In order to consistently, and more safely, provide firearms safety training, we would like to use what is known as Laser Ammo.

Laser Ammo has a laser training software that is compatible with recoil-enabled airsoft guns that provide a realistic training tool in place of live-fire.

Simulator Software:

Recoil-Enabled Airsofts:

We would like to use the money we raise here to acquire these tools so that we can provide a safer means of training, especially for those new to firearms. This also will reduce our environmental impact as we will not be shooting leaded ammo into a berm in the woods or inside a shooting range that requires immense amounts of energy to power the ventilation needed to safely operate. The set up will also be mobile, allowing us to train folks any where that has power. This will primarily be in homes (the instructor's or the students'), but can also be used in places of business and/or communal buildings to name a few. For those who are sensitive to recoil, or may have firearms related trauma(s), this can be a softer way of introducing firearms as they are not capable of live fire, will not produce as much sound, and are safer to drop.

We are currently awaiting a call back from a sales rep to put together a package that would meet our needs. We plan to acquire:

- Firearms Trainer Simulator Combo Package (with Standard Throw Camera)*

https://store.laser-ammo.com/software/firearms-trainer-simulator-combo-package.html

Price: $1525

This includes the Smokeless Range 2.0, Open Range, and the Video Scenario Trainer Pro.

*we are going to try and acquire the short throw which will allow to use smaller spaces.

We will also need a projector and a projector screen. The projector we get will be determined by the camera we are able to get.

These are the projectors they recommend:

Price: $569.99

This brings our total to (at most): $3,134.94

The additional funds will go towards miscellaneous items, including:

- COVID Safety Protocols (masks, gloves, disinfectants, thermometer gun, etc.)
- "Green Gas"/Propane (for the airsoft guns)
- Power Strip and Extension Cords
- Tables
- Spare Magazines, Batteries
- Storage Bins
- Holster
- Cases for the airsofts
- Projector Screen

If we exceed our goal, we will utilize those funds to purchase additional tools and provide a list for the community.

If we are exceeding our goal by multitudes, we would like to provide said funds to our organizers and instructors. It is our goal to pay our instructors for the time they are giving to the community to help alleviate any costs that a student may otherwise be asked to pay. Ideally, we will be able to provide trainings for free because we can pay the instructors for their time as opposed to the students paying for each session.

As we grow and evolve, we will keep the community updated and apprised of our situation as best we are able.
