How do we plan on doing that? By making a massive mural of Porterhouse, of course.
Porterhouse lovingly served as Drake's live mascot to the Drake community at athletic events, student programs and community engagement opportunities. We lost him much too soon but the lives he touched are still impacted today. We want to honor his memory so that there is always a reminder on campus of the joy and smiles that he brought to alumni, students, staff and faculty.
Our plan is to use a large photo of our beloved former mascot, divide it into approximately 400 sections, and allow students to recreate each piece on a tile at an upcoming student event in March. The mural will then be constructed in lower Olmsted utilizing each student's work to create a piece of art that will memorialize Porterhouse for years to come.
So, why should you help us? The Drake Community is known for being incredibly passionate, supportive, and generous. We constantly strive to achieve big things and help each other to make them happen. In order to make our mark on Drake's campus one that lasts, we need your help. Porterhouse's legacy can live on for years with your help!
Please consider donating to our project so that we may purchase the supplies necessary to create a mural that the entire Drake Community will be proud of. If you have any questions about the project, please feel free to contact us. Thank you for helping us memorialize our beloved mascot.
