Portable oxygen - battery

UPDATED GOAL: I've changed the goal to reflect the Canadian-US dollar exchange rate of the moment . If you're donating US funds, your donation will be charged in Canadian dollars, at present about $0.80 US. Add about 25% to the US amount to get the intended donation, ie $100 US = about $125 Canadian. [and that's only the first headache.] 

The difference we are hoping to raise will cover a second and hopefully a third large battery, to allow me to take extended and even overnight trips; an external charger, to charge a spare battery while using the other; and the shipping and customs fees which turned out to be quite high.

Update -- Got the basic machine!! It works well.  But the fee was bad, $75 US shipping *PLUS* $130 Canadian = $92 US "brokerage fees".

Hi friends!

Good news -- although we still have no diagnosis on the reason my lungs are not working (we have a lot of information on what it is not), I am getting a lot better and passed the six-minute walking test. So the prescription is whatever I'm doing to keep on doing it. :-)

Bad news -- I'm tied to the oxygen machine with a fifty-foot leash. Portable bottles are very expensive (sixteen dollars for three hours at low level, one hour at comfortable level.) They are also heavy and impractical.

What seems to be working is moderate activity with a good supply of oxygen. I want to get out and exercise more, both for enjoyment and for health; a sedentary lifestyle cooped inside doesn't help healing. Walking to town, visiting friends in the city, camping on summer weekends,  and maybe even getting back to a few hours skiing would be great.

A portable oxygen machine with a couple of long-lasting batteries will help solve this problem. 

An ad for a high quality machine is attached. Since this has already gone for two years and looks to be long term, it makes sense to invest in something dependable.
