Trece Porrata's Handicap Van Fund

Donation protected
Trece Porrata, a 42 year old mother of three was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) or better known as " Lou Gehrig's disease" last October.  Within six months, her mobility transitioned from difficult with a walker to, recently, a motorized wheelchair.

Expenses quickly became overwhelming due to related needs that included surgeries, handicap equipment, an in home caregiver and moving to a better equiped home.

Simple day to day activities became challenges to Trece and her husband Tony as they work to care for their four year old son Rocco.  Picking Rocco up from school, attending church and his sports activities, or even simple grocery shopping, all impossible without the motorized wheelchair.

Due to her inability to use her limbs, Trece cannot move from a wheelchair to the car but must stay in the chair for all movements, making everyday activities only possible with both the chair and a way to transport it.  The wheelchair cannot be transported without the use of a specialized handicap van including a ramp and locks to hold the chair in place.

A used handicap van costs between $30,000 to $40,000.  In addition to the other expenses, this is an amount that puts the family at a breaking point.

Any donation is appreciated.
