Poppy's Heart Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nick and Poppy is my youngest of two rescue dogs. She is roughly a year and a half old and was recently diagnosed with a heart defect called Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA). Basically there is a bypass vessel that goes from the left side to the right side of the heart and it's open while in the mother closes at birth. Unfortunately, in some cases, it doesn't close causing an overflow of blood to flow into the left side of the heart which leads to heart failure and ultimately death. Untreated, life expectancy is maybe 6 months to a year once it gets to the heart failure stage. If surgery is performed, dogs can typically live a normal life after for however many years they are granted, with a high success rate. I am no expert on all of this, so my details may not be 100% accurate. I was quoted an estimate of between $6,000 and $10,000 to have the surgery completed which, unfortunately, is beyond my budget. Therfore, I am trying to sell my classic car as well as my main car to do whatever I can on my end. However, I humbly ask for whatever help anyone can offer. No donation is too small. Words cannot express how grateful it would make me to be able to give her a fighting chance at living her best life. Yes, she can be obnoxious at times with her barking unnecessarily at times lol, but she is such a sweet dog otherwise. She absolutely loves car rides, going for walks, her squeaky toys, and wrestling with her big brother Boomer ...sometimes. He's twice her size and very rambunctious. Cuddle time is a nice bonus for them. Anyway, for whatever it's worth, I sincerely appreciate your time reading this and whatever assistance you can provide. Please share this, even if you can't donate. Thank you and have a great day or night.
