Poplar Fire 7.9.2021

Donation protected

Friday the 9th of July was supposed to be a day of healing and gratitude as the community was hosting a youth vaccine event, while giving away new school clothes, back packs and lunch boxes. Partners from Tulare County, near and far, worked relentlessly to make sure this event was successful for the people of Poplar.

Just before the event, the fire ignited. This fire took several small businesses. It burned several homes behind those businesses; seven families were displaced to be exact. Lastly, it burned many of the clothes, backpacks and non-perishable foods that a local non-profit has been storing for the community members who depend on their resources. And if it wasn't burned, it was doused with water and ash.

We are asking for support to help out displaced families, to help regain our resources for the youth drive, and also replenish the food that was lost.
