Popeye's ACL Repair

Help me get out of this wagon!!! 

Popeye is not a fan of his recent mode of transportation - his little blue wagon. Perhaps we should have gotten him a red one instead! He's ready to get back to walks with his little brother Ruxin and showing off for the ladies at the dog park.  

In January, Popeye tore his ACL. No, he wasn't playing football - just trying to hop up on the couch. We waited a few months to give him time to heal naturally before making the decision to go forward with surgery. After talking to the surgeon last week. he let us know the reason Popeye has yet to put weight on his leg is because he didn't just tear the ligament, but the meniscus as well. Unfortunately, without surgery (it's called TPLO), he might not ever use his back right leg again. Not going through with surgery could put strain on his three good legs and result in another injury or arthritic problems.  

This is a lot of information! But Matt and I wanted everyone to have the full story of why we made the decision for surgery. We did not arrive at it lightly. And, for us, it's a big financial commitment. 

Anyone who has met Popeye knows what a special pup he is. He's our little human. I've had him since he was a five week old nugget and he just celebrated his 9th birthday last October! He's got a lot of good years left and we'd do anything to make sure he has a happy and healthy life. 

Surgery is in two weeks and we get a discount if we can pay cash up front. So we are asking our friends and family to please, donate if you can! $1 donated is $1 less we have to borrow. Thank you in advance, please know that it means the world to us! We love you all.
