Alex and I began our friendship in High school in Miami, Florida. We both love movies, and have collaborated on several films together.  He's got a great sense of humor and he’s a great writer.  Adria and I are thrilled to collaborate on this next project with him.

Alex studied journalism in high school and Miami-Dade Community College, and since the mid-1980s he’s done some business writing for select clients, had a long gig as a ghostwriter of children’s stories, and also wrote thousands of articles and reviews for several now-defunct websites: Associated Content/Yahoo Voices, Epinions, and Examiner.

Alex has written or co-written four screenplays that became short films: A Simple Ad, Clown 345, Ronnie and the Pursuit of the Elusive Bliss, and El Grande de Corona.

He also wrote and published two books: Save Me the Aisle Seat: The Good, the Bad, and the Very Bad Movies – Selected Reviews by an Online Reviewer (2012) and Reunion: A Story (2018).

Our goal:

To make Alex Diaz-Granados' next film.  Which is the story of a man (Guillermo Ronderos) whose entire belief system collapses as a result of the Trump defeat in November 2020, The Big Lie, and the 1/6 attack on the Capitol.

The objective of the film:

The film is to consider the issues of political extremism (which we satirized in Ronnie) but this time around, let's look at the costs of being hyperpartisan. And in order to do that, we have to ask the question, "What matters most to this guy? His politics, or his loved ones?"

Who’s who in the Cast and Crew-

Juan Carlos Hernandez has directed, edited and acted for over 40 years.  A Juilliard grad, he has been involved in numerous films, television, and theatrical productions such as Broadway: Wait Until Dark. He was the voice of Fidel in PBS’s “Car Talk” and the voice of Coach Mario in “Pinkalicious and Peterriffic”.  Most recently he worked on the NBC show, “New Amsterdam”, airing in April.

Adria K. Hernandez has over 35 years’ experience in the entertainment industry as a producer; identifying, packaging and producing high quality entertainment properties, and as an actor.  Using an unusual blend of financial management expertise, innate ability to identify winning properties, and strong completion and budgeting skills, she makes sure projects are completed on time and on budget.

Popcorn Sky has produced films for the last 20 years, such as The Cave(short), Waking Up In Astoria, Statico, A Simple Ad(Short), Clown 345, Ronnie and the Pursuit of the Elusive Bliss, and most recently a short comedy program called El Grande de Corona.  We are happy that Alex will be joining us for the first time as Associate Producer.

We believe in this campaign.  We believe in Alex's story because he writes with compassion, conviction, and with a wonderful sense of humor.

Thank you so much for your support!  In thanks, we will make sure everyone who donated gets a copy of the final project!
