Located in the heart of Cambodia Town in the city of Long Beach, Family Pharmacy is loved and known by the community. Standing in its original location since 1980 in the infamous Poly Plaza it has been there through it all with the city of Long Beach. On the evening of Sunday May 31st we watched as looters broke and vandalized the place we call our second home. We stand behind the BLM movement but don’t condone the criminals that ransacked not only us but the patients of this city. We weren’t the only ones who suffered losses, but as an independent pharmacy, owned and ran by immigrants of all colors, it was devastating to watch. Neither the City nor the Police Department has rendered aid, even day after the loss.
The next step to rebuild what was lost is by having our insurance pay out our losses. Unfortunately, this takes time and money which is something we can’t afford at this time. We ask for help during these difficult times to help us rebuild our home, your home. We who cater to the sick, the ones who know you on a first name basis and who, during good times have always found ways to give back to the community. Family pharmacy has already suffered significant loss due to the covid pandemic, and this act of violence has set us back even more.
With your help we can bring back stability to our pharmacy. We want to be back up and running to help everyone as fast as possible. Our community, employees, patients need us. Being an essential business we have chosen to keep our doors open during the pandemic with regular hours only to have our doors closed for the first time on Monday June 1st.
