PO Miosotis Familia was a 12 year veteran of the NYPD. She was also the dedicated mother of three beautiful kids. Genesis, 20 and twins Peter and Delilah, 12.
On July 5, 2017, PO Familia was mortally wounded in a premeditated and cowardly attack as she sat in a police command post vehicle. In spite of the valiant efforts by first responders, she succumbed to her injuries. Make no mistake, Officer Miosotis Familia was assassinated because of the uniform she wore and what she represented.
PO Familia sacrificed countless hours away from her family serving the community. She never once turned her back on that responsibility. She died a heroine, playing her part in ensuring that the community remained safe. Now it’s our turn to honor that dedication.
