How to Survive a Poison Apple

Donation protected

I am an eating disorder survivor.
I think this is the first time I've ever actually said that in print. Even when I've said it in person, I've always qualified it. "Oh, it wasn't THAT bad...I mean, I was okay..."
But you know what? It WAS bad. BUT, it wasn't all my fault...
I am an eating disorder survivor. But I think I've almost survived that "Poison Apple"...at least I've learned to manage that "Poison Apple" by going into the wilderness...

I've been working on "How to Survive a Poison Apple" for almost 5 years. I produced and performed it in Portland, Oregon in 2012 and I am now set to present it at two Fringe festivals (Santa Cruz and Vancouver, B.C.) this summer! I'll also be doing independent showings in Albuquerque, Salt Lake City, Oakland and Sebastopol (and maybe Portland). More showings will follow in fall 2014 in Berkeley and beyond.

I envision touring the show to high schools, colleges, girls' and women's groups, churches and more. I want to perform the show wherever I can and encourage discussion about gender expectations, eating disorders and addictions among women, men, girls, boys and families.

I am grateful for your monetary contributions! They will help me fund the following:

- An audio recording of the songs in "How to Survive a Poison Apple." This will include recording, mixing, mastering and duplication. I will also include a few of my songs not in the show but with similar themes and styles, including "Untangle Me," "Edge of the Well" and "Come Out."  $3400

- Commissioning of Santa Fe-based artist Pi Luna to create the CD cover for "How to Survive a Poison Apple and Other Tales." $400

- Airfare/travel expenses to Vancouver and Santa Cruz Fringe Festivals. $750

- Poison Apple Curriculum to present to educators
and community groups. $350

- Other fees associated with presenting the show, and with this fundraiser. $100

50% OF WHAT IS RAISED BEYOND $5000 WILL BE DONATED TO NEDA (National Eating Disorders Association).

Most performances of the show will be partial benefits for a local organizations that encourage and empower women and aid in the preventation and treatment of eating disorders. A percentage of the Albuquerque show's profits will go to the Eating Disorders Center of Albuquerque. A percentage of the Salt Lake City show's profits will go to Volunteers of America.

THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!

In return, I would like to offer you some gratitude gifts! Please peruse the rewards on this page. I have some special things in the works that I think you'll enjoy.
