Poets of Ukraine

Flloyd Kennedy, Colin Watts and Greg Quiery of the Liverpool Dead Good Poetry Society are organising an event to highlight the poetry of Ukraine, present and past. It will take place at Leaf on Bold Street at 7:00 pm on Wednesday 10th May, bang in the middle of the Eurovision festival.

We have invited Ukrainian poets living in Ukraine, including Yuliya Musakovska, Lyuba Yakimchuk, Khrystia Vengryniuk to record themselves performing their poetry, if possible. Otherwise, we will arrange for local poets to perform it on their behalf (in English, and Ukrainian). There will also be performances by Ukrainian poets and singers presently living in Liverpool, and will there will be performances of the poetry of Ukraine's National Poet, Taras Shevchenko, translated by Vera Rich.

We need funds to hire the venue, a technician and a projector, and to compensate the poets themselves in Ukraine and Liverpool. Any donations you can make will be so greatly appreciated.

This event also forms part of Writing on the Wall's Annual WoWFest.
