The Thin Gold Line: In Memory of Christy Raap

Between the thin Red Line and the thin Blue Line lies the thinnest Gold Line. The Gold Line represents those that are rarely seen but mostly heard. The calm voice in the dark night, Dispatchers; the Golden Glue that holds it all together. Christy Raap was one of the Golden ones that hold it all together for public safety. Christy worked in public safety for 25 years and was a KITTCOM 911 Dispatcher in Kittitas County for over 23 years. Her voice was heard by thousands of people over the years both by radio and over the phone. Her smile was evident in her tone and her calm and compassionate manner assisted both responders and victims in their time of need. Christy unexpectedly passed away due to medical complications on July 13th, 2022. Her daughter Courtney, son Kendan, and family were with her in her final hours as she found peace. I am a friend of Christy's who had the privilege of working with her for the last 6 years at Kittcom. On behalf of her work family, I am asking for help for her children in their time of grief as they try to pick up the pieces of their life and remember Christy for her contribution to public safety and the community of Kittitas County. Funds collected will go to her children to cover medical costs and other unexpected expenses that occur when a loved one's life is unexpectedly cut short.
