This is not something we would usually do but are facing growing challenges, thank you for looking at our page.
Our father, Jeff Ensminger, has had Grand Mal epilepsy since the age of 16. While its been a lifelong struggle, in the last 3 years his seizures have become more frequent and detrimental, mostly because of osteoporosis, a symptom of his required medication.
In January 2014 our father had 5 unexplained seizures. In June of 2014 he lost most feeling in his legs. While balancing life with medical setbacks we faced a final blow- a seizure that broke his hip. He received surgery, was hospitalized, then sent to a convalescent center for rehabilitation. In October our dad came home. Even with my sister and I checking in daily, he had another seizure in December while healing from the last one, he broke his hand and bruised his hip.
Everyday tasks are a struggle not just because of broken bones, but also fears of seizures at any moment. My sister and I are his only caretakers and have been responsible for making financial, medical, and personal decisions on his behalf. Our main goals are to find the right medication and medical assistance, get our father caught up on bills and to protect his house. We are working on these things every day. In order to get them done sustainably we realized we had to ask for help.
His medical bills include multiple ambulance rides, weekly physical therapy, his stays at the hospital and surgery. He also fell behind on utilities and mortgage payments. Your support will give us tools to make the right moves and allow our father to focus on full recovery rather than mounting stresses, which can in turn contribute to more seizures.
My sister, dad, and I have pulled together and we are close to a more positive future, because of your help we will be one step closer, thank you for your contribrution!
