Pluckers Houston Flood Relief

Donation protected

At Pluckers, we are not just a collection of restaurants. We are a family. Last year, we raised money to help our Baton Rouge family members who lost their homes due to flooding. Today, we are reaching out on behalf of three of our Houston family members who lost their homes, vehicles and possessions in the devasting floods due to Harvey. Here are their stories:

Sydney Gonzalez - lost everything

"Moving from San Antonio to Houston was a big change for me. I wasn't sure where to apply for work and my friend recommended Pluckers so I tried it out. I've been here for a few months now and I can easily say it's been the best decision I've made so far. After hurricane Harvey hit, knowing that my family is 3 hours away, my Pluckers family has constantly been here for me. I am so grateful to have found this place and to have met these amazing people. In my off time, I enjoy reading new books and going out with friends to try new foods."

Christian Munguia - lost everything

"Being from Houston and moving away to Huntsville to go to college was a tough thing to do. I spent three years in Huntsville/ Conroe working as well as going to Sam Houston State for criminal justice, but I missed living in Houston, so earlier this year I moved back and found a great job at Pluckers. Pluckers has been my favorite restaurant to work for by far and the people here are super great. With the past few weeks being as hectic as they’ve been with Hurricane Harvey it’s nice to know that my coworkers truly care about my well-being. While I’m not at work I love to play video games, Call of Duty being my favorite, watching Texans football games, and bike riding all around Houston with some friends."

Natalie Aguirre - lost vehicle and flooding in her house

“Hello everyone. My name is Natalie and I am 33 years old. I was born and raised in Mexico, but when I was 16 my Mom decided to bring me to Houston because the violence in my town was very bad. I’m glad because I learned English in school and found out that I love being a server. I love people and I think this job is perfect for me. I have been doing it for 16 years but have never been more happy than now because Pluckers gave me an opportunity to know that it is not only food or restaurant. It is more than that. It is a big, big family that shows you love every single day. They give you the opportunity to grow as a person and become someone successful in the future. Being here is the best decision I made. A few week’s ago, we all in Houston had a very bad weather issue – we have the storm Harvey. That made a lot of disasters for thousands of families in Houston. Lots of them lost everything. My house got flooded but it is only material stuff. We can come back up. But for many more, it was more than material stuff. They lost family members and that’s irreplaceable. I have three kids and I had to put them on top of the fridge because the water that Monday was up to my waist. It was so scary, but thanks to God, we made it and we are here. I’m so glad and thanks to God because I have the chance to work for Pluckers because it is awesome every day. I have fun when I work and it is financially very good because I’m able to support my family better. Thanks so much Pluckers family for giving me the chance to be here. I’m sorry my English is very bad.”

We have set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds for those Pluckers employees suffering as a result of the massive flooding in Houston. As the Pluckers owners, we have agreed to match any donated funds up to $3,000.
