Hello to all,
As some of you know, I just got back from my vacation to visit my family in Singapore. Looking at my sister’s living condition has pushed me to do this for her.
My Sister, Sabariah Rahmad...
She has been having all kinds of health issues for the past several years and one of them, anemia, she has been suffering from her whole life.
Last year she was warded to the ICU for a minor heart attack! With all the health issues she has, her medical fund has run dry and she has been using my dad's Medisave. This fund is for family members, but my dad is now 75 and has just been diagnosed with Dementia. Eventually he may need his Medisave to take care of his own sickness.
Last year, she was diagnosed with Kidney Failure. My sister has been on dialysis for the past year. She has been living through donations from some organizations in Singapore and the Social Welfare has been helping her pay for her dialysis which costs about $200 per visit. She had to quit her job due to her weakness after the dialysis. Her doctor has advised her to go through a kidney transplant by the end of the year if her older son’s a match.
That being said, the cost for the procedure will come to at least $50K for her son and her!
For now, we as a family are helping her bit by bit financially to keep her afloat...
