Harry And Lyra’s Plight Of The Pangolin Triathlon

Meet Lyra and Harry, aged 8, who are mad about Pangolins! Unfortunately these beautiful creatures are the most trafficked mammal on the planet, and all 8 species of them are threatened with extinction. Completely of their own accord, these guys came up with the idea of fundraising for Pangolins Via the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. They are doing a sponsored swim on the 6th December (as many lengths as they can in 30 minutes), a 5 mile walk on 19th January across the Sussex Downs and a 10 mile cycle in the spring time. They have also painted over 60 stones to sell at a Christmas fair, are baking goodies to sell in workplaces, doing Xmas tree collections in the new year, selling old toys and a few more extras to keep the money coming in! And would love to raise £1000 for this special cause. Pangolins do not fare well in conservation reserves, they need to be in their natural habitats to thrive and reproduce. So the money raised helps fight the poaching and trafficking systems, with protection being the key aim of the charity. They don’t get a lot of press and most people haven’t even heard of them, so they really do need our help to raise awareness and funds for them.
