I was recently diagnosed with autism and I have suffered over many years trying to integrate into a normal working environment but my autism has made this really difficult, if not impossible as I find it difficult to form long term relationships and simple tasks quite overwhelming.
I feel more comfortable and confident when working alone and being in control of my own working day and because of this I have come up with the idea of starting my own food business selling sandwiches, baguettes and wraps at outdoor markets and events. Initially I will buy these in ready made from a local supplier (I've already spoken to them about minimum order quantities, shelf life and food allergies etc) I have previously worked in the food industry in my early 20s so I do have some knowledge and experience, and a keen interest in preparing and selling food. I will need to refresh my knowledge and take a Food Hygiene course, in addition to buying a market stall and tables and display racks to present the food to customers, and there will also be the cost of hiring a van to drive to and from the events, until the business generates enough profit to allow me to buy a second hand van at a later date.
I have researched the markets and events to trade from and the cost is negligible but I need to commit to 5, 6 and maybe even 7 days of continuous trading initially in order to ensure the food is sold as fresh as possible with as little as possible going to waste.
I am turning to crowdfunding in the hope of raising the finances needed to launch this business because I have been out of work for over ten years and it is demoralising and depressing seeing your life waste away, I want to do something constructive and contribute to society but my long term illness and unemployment has made it impossible to raise the funds in the normal way through high street banks and lenders, so crowdfunding is my only real hope of doing something that I love and find satisfying and fulling.
Any help however small will be hugely appreciated, even sharing a link to my Crowdfunding page with your social media followers would be enormously helpful.
