"Need Attorney After False Arrest"

My step mother, Donna Merritt, was in a terrible accident on November 7th, in which she swerved to avoid a deer and ended up going down a hill and into a creek.
She had to be mercy-flighted to the hospital, but before she got in the helicopter, the police wanted her to sign a consent form so they could draw blood and check for alcohol. She had not drank in 3 years and just wanted to get the help she needed, so she just went along with it.
The tox screen came back completely clean, but since the DA Richard Healey (Wayne County) presumed that this accident was alcohol-related (and because a paramedic said he THOUGHT he smelled alcohol-though most likely it was the italian dressing on the food she was picking up for dinner), he was going to have her processed as such.
November 26th, she was coerced into finding a ride to the Macedon police station so they could process her. If she didn't "willingly" go there, they threatened to send someone to the house to get her and add yet another false charge, "Resisting Arrest."
Her court date is December 30th.
She needs a lawyer ASAP. She spoke with an attorney with a very good reputation for what she's dealing with, and his fee is $2500, which she absolutely does not have.
Donna is disabled, as is my father, and she is doing the best she can to continue to care for him despite the injuries she received in this accident. They lost their only vehicle in this accident, and the insurance company won't cover anything at all because they "didn't see any evidence of a deer" (after going down a hill, sitting in the water for a couple hours, being winched back up the hill, and then sitting for 5 days at a shop.) She also needs to have surgery to reconstruct her nose after it was broken and split open. She is going through so much right now, and this hassle and humiliation is the last thing she needs!
I am trying to raise money on this site because Donna and my dad don't have a computer and know practically nothing about the internet, so they have no idea that options like this are even available.
I just don't want to see her get a public defender and risk having things turn out bad. She should not be charged with a single thing and should not pay a dime, not even the court fee.
I've seen enough stuff via Cop Block, Free Thought Project, etc....I know how corrupt the police can be, and I know they have all kinds of tricks up their sleeve to be able to make this charge stick. Even if they drop the charge, they would still want her to pay the court fee. This would mean that a cop could simply walk up to anyone they want and say, "Despite clear evidence that you are not drinking and driving, I am going to charge you as if you were, and when the charge is dropped, you'll still have to pay the state $80." Please think about how absurd this is.
I've seen nothing online about this that I can link to, and she still has not even received a police report about this.
This could happen to anyone. Please donate and share this.
