We hope this message finds you well. We are writing on behalf of our dearest Monique, who is currently navigating breast cancer. Monique is on a journey she didn't anticipate, and is navigating it with grace and strength. Monique is a beacon of positivity, a force that uplifts those around her. And now, it's our turn to shine that positivity back onto her.

Monique’s Cancer Journey:

Monique’s journey began in February 2023 when she discovered a lump in her breast. After a mammogram, ultrasound and multiple biopsies, Monique was officially diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma in April 2023. Monique underwent a double mastectomy and lymph node dissection in June, and next phases of treatment will include chemotherapy, followed by 5+ years of hormone therapy. The physical and emotional toll of the surgery and treatment can be incredibly overwhelming, yet, Monique continues to progress with an unwavering spirit and a smile on her face.

A Bit About Monique:

Monique is an incredible school social worker who works tirelessly to support students and families. While she managed the initial treatment during her break, now she is facing the reality of returning to work, with the uncertainties that chemotherapy brings.

Why Your Support Matters:

We have created this GoFundMe campaign to ask for your support in alleviating the financial stress that comes with this journey. Our goal is to help cover the medical expenses (i.e. copays and prescriptions), costs for cold capping (to help Monique preserve her hair during chemotherapy), cold therapy gloves and socks (to help prevent future neuropathy), and other essentials that insurance does not cover. We would also like to help cover unpaid leave from work so Monique can focus on healing.
