Please support Jas in his journey to recovery from his spinal cord injury

Meet Jasdeep, a bright and thoughtful motivated young man and an avid football fan.

At just 23 years old, Jasdeep’s life was transformed after a 14-foot fall left him with a severe spinal cord injury. The accident, which happened in 2014, flipped his whole life around, leaving him paralysed from the neck down and heavily reliant on carer’s assistance.

Before his injury he was an outgoing social individual and was working as an enthusiastic trainee quantity surveyor at a construction firm called Skanska- a career that he was passionate and dedicated to. His motivation was and still is his mother who is deaf and has a heart condition, who single-handedly raised him even through her own struggles.

Please help Jasdeep in kick-starting his journey to recovery in which he will participate in breakthrough trials and treatments which may help him take significant strides in his recovery and potentially help him move again.

In the seven years of recovery since the accident, Jas has stayed optimistic and kept a strong mindset - which greatly benefitted his recovery thus far. When he was first admitted to hospital he was told he would be on a ventilator for the rest of his life. However, Jas was determined to beat the odds, he now can breathe on his own - a huge milestone. With the support of family, friends as well as his own drive, Jas has continued to improve his strength however possible, whether it be physiotherapy from home or getting creative with makeshift exercises using resistance bands and weighted gloves or alternative holistic therapies such as acupuncture, he has tried to take control of his recovery from home.

However, with setbacks from lack of access to aftercare, professional physiotherapy, mental health resources and most recently the impact of the pandemic, Jasdeep’s recovery has only been able to come so far.

This year Jasdeep has been selected to trial an innovative therapy which involves electro-therapy to improve the neurological pathway, which could help him to regain some movement and feeling in his upper body.

While the therapy itself is free, with the centre being based in Glasgow and him currently living in Kent there will be large costs involved due to the nature of his injury- from specialist transportation, accommodation, daily care from nurses and a carer over a course of four to five months.

Also, after this initial treatment Jas is hoping to partake in stem cell treatments in America to try and improve and repair the rest of his body.

Jasdeep, his family and friends would greatly appreciate any support in helping him on his road to recovery.

Thank you.
