After years of infertility treatments, we were blessed with twin girls in July 2024. Watching them grow has been the greatest joy of our lives. However, when the twins turned two months old, we noticed that Astro, one of the twins, was struggling to gain weight, crying more often, and smiling less.
 
This month, as Astro turned four months old, she began experiencing frequent high fevers. Following a series of tests, doctors discovered that she had elevated calcium levels and a large tumor in her abdomen.
 
Unfortunately, the specialized treatment Astro needs is not available in Tweed or the Gold Coast, so she was transferred to the ICU at Queensland Children’s Hospital (QCH) in Brisbane.
 
I had planned to return to work at the end of January and enroll the twins in daycare. However, under these circumstances, returning to work has become impossible. Supporting Astro’s hospitalization and ongoing treatment has brought unexpected financial challenges to our family.
 
Adding to the difficulty, my family lives in Japan, leaving us without nearby relatives to help care for our two dogs or Astro’s twin sister Cosmo during our time in Brisbane.
 
It is deeply humbling and difficult to ask for help, but even the smallest contribution—or simply sharing our story—would be a tremendous support for our family.
 
The funds raised will go toward living expenses until I can return to work, baby essentials such as diapers and formula, transportation costs to and from the hospital, parking fees, food and care for our dogs, and a special first Christmas present for the twins.
 
It is heartbreaking to see Astro, who was home with us just last week, now lying in a hospital bed, connected to countless tubes and crying. Every day, we pray for our brave little girl to overcome this illness. While this Christmas will likely be spent in the hospital, we hold onto hope that next year, we can celebrate Christmas together at home as a family. We also dream of taking Astro to Japan to meet her grandparents, who have yet to meet her and her sister.

長年の不妊治療の末、2024年7月に双子の女の子を授かりました。2人が成長する姿を見ることは、私たち家族にとってこの上ない喜びです。しかし、双子が生後2か月を迎えた頃、アストロ（双子の1人）が体重の増加が遅く、泣くことが多く、笑顔が少ないことに気付きました。
 
そして今月、アストロが4か月を迎えると、高熱を頻繁に出すようになりました。数々の検査の結果、医師たちはアストロの体内でカルシウム濃度が高く、腹部に大きな腫瘍があることを発見しました。
 
残念ながら、アストロに必要な専門的な治療は、Tweedやゴールドコーストでは受けられないため、彼女はブリスベンのクイーンズランド小児病院（QCH）のICUに転院しました。
 
私は当初、1月末に職場復帰し、双子を保育園に預ける予定でしたが、こうした状況では職場復帰は不可能になりました。アストロの入院と治療を支えるため、私たち家族は予想外の経済的な負担を抱えることとなりました。
 
さらに困難なのは、私の家族が日本にいるため、ブリスベンでの生活中、2匹の犬やアストロの双子の姉妹の世話を手伝ってくれる親族が近くにいないことです。
 
このように支援をお願いすることは非常に心苦しく感じますが、ほんの少しのご協力でも、またはこの話を広めていただくだけでも、私たち家族にとって大きな助けとなります。
 
いただいた支援金は、私が職場復帰するまでの生活費、オムツやミルクなどの育児用品、病院までの交通費や駐車料金、犬の世話や食事代、そして双子への特別な初めてのクリスマスプレゼントに充てられます。
 
つい先週まで一緒に家で過ごしていたアストロが、今は病院のベッドに横たわり、無数のチューブに繋がれながら泣いている姿を見るのは、本当に胸が張り裂けそうです。毎日、私たちは勇敢な小さな娘がこの病気を乗り越えられるよう祈っています。今年のクリスマスは病院で過ごすことになりそうですが、来年は家族揃って自宅でお祝いできる日が来ることを願っています。また、アストロと双子の姉妹を日本に連れて行き、まだ会ったことのない祖父母に会わせることも私たちの夢です。
