Nahian’s father, Faruque (a DU alumnus and former residential student of SM hall), is a college teacher and runs his five-members-family with his average salary. His mother is paralyzed and has been suffering from liver disease. Last year, Faruque lost his daughter (Faria Tabassum) due to limited treatment and money, which took a toll on his life.
Now, the fear of an unexpected death of loved ones tends to swallow him and his family since Faruque, with his mediocre salary, cannot bear his beloved son and mother’s treatment cost. Faruque would like to go to India to seek better treatment for his son “Nahian,” which requires an estimated amount of 2500000 Taka (29,500 USD), according to doctors. Faruque and his family have already managed around 1000000 Taka (11,800 USD). He has been struggling to collect the rest of the money. Therefore, we urge you to come forward and donate some money. “আসসালামু আলাইকুম, আমার ছেলে নাহিয়ান, ওর বয়স প্রায় ৩ বছর। জন্মের পরের দিন ওর মলদ্বারে একটি অপারেশন করতে হয়। ফলে এতদিন ভাল ছিল। গত মাসে হঠাৎ একদিন দেখতে পাই ওর প্রস্রাবের রাস্তা দিয়ে মল আসছে এতে ওর খুব কস্ট হচ্ছে যা দেখা যায় না সাথে সাথে দেখা গেল পায়ুপথ দিয়ে প্রস্রাব আসছে। আমি সাথে সাথে ওর সেই ডাক্তারের সাথে কথা বলি উনি একজন শিশু সার্জারির সহযোগী অধ্যাপক, সব কিছু শুনে সে বলে আমি কিছু করতে পারব না ,তিনি ঢাকায় একজন শিশু সার্জারি অধ্যাপক কথা বললেন আমি ছেলেকে তার কাছে নিয়ে যায়। সে কিছু টেস্ট দেয় আমি পপুলার ডায়াগনস্টিক থেকে ও গুলো করায় টেস্টগুলো খুব কস্টদায়ক ও ব্যয়বহুল ছিল। ওগুলো দেখে ডাক্তার বলে একটু জটিল অপারেশন এবং যত দ্রুত করে ফেলা ভাল। শুনে আমি আঁতকে উঠলাম কারণ গতবছর আমার একটি সন্তান মারা গেছে চিকিত্সা অবহেলার কারণে। আমি আরও কয়েক জন ডাক্তারের কাছে পরামর্শ করি সবাই রিপোর্ট দেখে এবং আগের অপারেশনের কথা শুনে একই কথা বলে। পরবর্তীতে আমার আশেপাশের সবাই বলে ভারতে নেওয়ার কথা। আমি ভারতের বেশ কিছু হাসপাতালে এবং ডাক্তারের কাছে ঐ রিপোর্ট পাঠায় যা দেখে তাঁরা বলেছেন এতে তিনটি অপারেশন লাগবে এবং খুব ব্যয়বহুল।“
