I WAS ROBBED AT STARBUCKS

Donation protected

I wasn't robbed in the usual way at Starbucks by high prices for drinks.  I was robbed of my MacBook Pro.

Saturday night July 29 around 9:00pm I was working on my laptop at Starbucks in Alameda, California when a gang of thieves burst through the door, rushed in and grabbed my MacBook Pro right out of my hands.  They disappeared out the door with my computer and one belonging to a homeless lady.  She chased them to a waiting getaway car where they sped off into the night.

I am an animator.  That MacBook Pro was my whole livelihood and now my livelihood is gone.

KGO news interviewed me the next day.

KRON news also interviewed me the next day.

When the police arrived, the baristas told them a gang had robbed customers of laptops a week before.  It would have been nice of Starbucks to post a sign on the front door warning customers not to bring their laptops into the store.  Or for the price of two lattes, they could have hired a security guard to protect the customers.  The baristas also told the police they didn't have access to the surveillance footage.  Only the manager had that.  I called the manager the next day and she told me only the district manger of Starbucks was the only one with access to the surveillance footage.  I called him, but he never called me back.

Across town, another Starbucks had customers robbed of laptops.  And it happened in Fresno.  I have a feeling it is happening in Starbucks all across the country, but Starbucks is keeping it quiet.

I also have the feeling the reason the district manager is not releasing the surveillance footage, is there is no footage.  Recently BART trains were robbed by gangs and it was revealed that most of the cameras on BART were dummies.  I think Starbucks is covering up the same problem.

I think because of their negligence and total disregard for their customers' safety, Starbucks owes me a replacement for my laptop and the software on it.  But they have ignored my pleas, so I am asking you to help me afford to buy a MacBook Pro and the software that goes with it so I can get back to work earning money.  Ideally Starbucks should contribute to GoFundMe if they really cared about their customers.

For a MacBook Pro and the animation and editing software I had on it, it will cost about $5000 to restore what I had until one split second on a Saturday night.
