Our family is walking through one of the hardest valleys we’ve ever faced, and we are leaning on God, prayer, and the kindness of others to carry us through. What we first thought was a simple flu has become a life-threatening medical emergency for my mom. Over the past several weekends, our dad, John, has been faithfully by her side—driving her to appointments, praying over her, and staying with her through every frightening turn. She has now been transferred to three different hospitals as doctors worked to understand what was happening. They finally discovered that she is battling a severe bacterial flu infection, along with pneumonia, and she is now in critical condition on life support. Life support was supposed to be four days to assist breathing, but it has been over two weeks, and doctors have shared she can only be on life support for about 30 days. We are praying fervently that the new treatments will begin to work, that the infection will clear, and that God will breathe healing into her body. This is emotionally painful and financially overwhelming. Dad is driving four hours each way to stay near mom. The cost of fuel, food, hotels, and growing medical bills have created a huge burden that no one should have to carry while fighting for their loved one’s life. He is exhausted, but he is holding onto faith and trusting God to sustain him. We are asking, humbly and prayerfully, for help. Your support will go toward medical bills and emergency expenses, travel and lodging costs for my dad, basic living needs during this crisis, and future care and recovery once we can bring our mom home.
