Please help us to rebuild

Donation protected
Hi Everyone.

As you may have seen, my business ARC Window Films was decimated by the huge fire that tore through Earlestown the other day. Other than the recycling plant where it started, I think we are the only business to have been totally destroyed by the fire. There is literally nothing left, every last bit went up in smoke. The only positive seems to be that nobody was hurt, for which I am grateful.

Most of you don’t know me but I am not accustomed to asking for help - always preferring to help others and work hard for anything I have. However, having had chance to fully comprehend the magnitude of the damage, the impact on the business, and the costs involved, I may need a little help getting my dream back on track. Having just about steadied the ship after corona hit, this really is a kick whilst down, and will be a real challenge going forward. We didn’t even start the fire, it had nothing to do with us, but it has totally decimated the building and everything in it.

I am not the type to give up and refuse to let corona or a damn fire stop me from being upbeat, working hard, and making the business a success again – but I may need a little help to get things back up and running.

ANY help you can give will be used to help navigate through the challenging times ahead and towards the cost of rebuilding the premises we had so proudly built on Sankey Valley Industrial Estate.

We are pursuing this via insurances but without going into details there is likely to be a lengthy legal battle before we get anywhere, and potentially a substantial shortfall. The truth is we just don’t know.

I can say that I truly appreciate any and all support, and any donation no matter how small will help to get us back on track.

Thank you

About ARC Window Films
www.arcwindowfilms.com

We are a small business with only 5 staff, but have big ambitions and operate nationwide. We have been growing year on year and we had moved to Earlestown just last year when we bought the new premises. It was a huge achievement for us and (pre corona) 2020 was set to be our best year yet.

We work with schools, councils, home owners, offices, hospitals, and vehicles – anywhere there is glass. In simple terms we upgrade existing windows to make them safer, more energy efficient, or to solve problems with heat and glare. Its a modern alternative to blinds, and much cheaper than fully replacing the glass.

We hired locally when we moved here, and ALWAYS take on an apprentice every year – that will be the case for as long as I have any influence on the business. I want to help as many young people as I can for as long as I can.

About Myself

I moved to Newton le Willows to be near the business, and love it here. I wish I had moved here years ago.

I always try to help out in the community and for the past 5 years have presented at local colleges about being a young (ish!) entrepreneur and how they can do anything if they put their mind to it.

When corona hit and we all went on furlough, I went into the office every day to hand make DIY Face Visors from Bomb blast window film, and donated them free of charge to the NHS and key workers. I pestered manufacturers for free film, I used my own cash to buy more, and with help from friends we produced just over 3000 face visors. We fought corona the entire time.

I never have been and never will be a “taker”, but like I say sometimes people just need a little extra help from others.

Thank you everyone for your support and donations – I really have no idea how I will make it up to everyone but believe me when I say I really really appreciate every last one.

The Tree

In case anyone was wondering, I chose the photo of the tree as it is literally the only thing left standing after the fire. It is surrounded by ashes and rubble, but just standards there defiant, unaffected.

I’ve asked the council if they can re home it, somewhere in the community, as a symbol of defiance against such a devastating event. It would be such a shame to lose it as part of the demolition/ re build process!
