Remi’s Fight – Please Help

Sweet, sweet Remi… Just three days ago, she was running around the house, full of energy, acting like her normal playful self. Then, without warning, she became seriously ill. After seeking medical care in Powell River, it was determined that she needed to be transported to Vancouver for urgent treatment.

Remi is a 9-month-old French Bulldog who adores playing with her three human siblings. She is loved deeply and treated like the little princess she is. She had never shown any signs of illness before this sudden and devastating turn.

Upon arrival in Vancouver, Remi was taken to CanWest, where they performed a full assessment, including an MRI. While the exact cause of what is attacking her brain remains unknown, there was a glimmer of hope yesterday—she ate some food and regained consciousness. However, she is still fighting an uphill battle.

The latest update is that Remi will remain hospitalized overnight under close monitoring and supportive care. She is currently receiving anti-inflammatory steroids and antibiotics. Although we are awaiting a final report, the MRI revealed possible meningitis, brain swelling, lesions, and inflammation in her spinal cord. Right now, she has no mobility in her back legs, but that may improve as the swelling decreases.

Danielle, a devoted single mom of three, is doing everything she can to save Remi. But with medical and travel expenses now exceeding $10,000, the financial burden is overwhelming. Any support—big or small—would mean the world in helping cover these costs and ensuring Remi gets the care she needs. The cost per day over night is $2000 with all her meds. The medical insurance has now run out so we are reaching out to the community.
