Please Help Us Save Benji & Misty

Hey there,

 

I am in tears writing this message as I have never wanted to have to come for asking for help however here it goes.

 

My name is Portia and I am a furmum of 3. I’m 22 years old and have been living out of home since the end of year 12 in 2017. After moving out from my family home, I rescued my two houndies (the loves of my life) Misty & Ace. These two greyhounds I can say have honestly saved my life and have been the best emotional support animals I could possibly ask for. After finally working full time whilst studying I saved up enough money to buy my baby whippet (Benji). Who was just the last piece of the puzzle to complete our little family. Benji brought the puppyhood out of my two Houndies and they have all been the best of friends every since.

 

After the NSW state lock down I lost my full time job in hospitality. I decided I wanted to start my own small business Furever Greys on Etsy so I could stay home with my furbabies as my mental health took a big turn being diagnosed with ADHD, anxiety and clinical depression. I was admitted into Cumberland Hospital the day after my 22nd birthday following a horrid turn in my mental health.

 

 

Life has been greyt. I’ve been able to spend time with my 3 furbabys whilst being able to work. However in turn with loosing my job in hospitality I had to cancel my furbabys pet insurance as it just got too much having to pay $410 in rent a week along with the other bills.

 

Due to my Bark Friday Sale I have just been swamped with sewing dog collars. I was unable to take Misty and Benji today on their daily dog park visit. So after I finished all of my work for the day (at 12:30 pm) I decided to take Misty & Benji to their favourite place to have a zoom and run around.

 

After about 20 minutes of zoomies both Misty and Benji got into a horrid accident which I’m still shaking typing this and recalling the series of events.

 

Misty was chasing after Benji however being dark at 12:30pm with only a few lights on at the park both of my babies went full speed (greyhounds and whippets run up to over 65 km/hr) into the park bench.

 

It has been the most horrific thing I have ever seen. Benji and Misty both went flying 2m on impact followed by gut wrenching such high pitched screams of pain due to the severity of their injuries on impact.

 

None of the dogs could get up. I was so thankful my partner was there to help carry Misty while I carried Benji into the car. Both being unable to walk with blood pouring out of their wounds.

 

 

 

 

 

I have never driven as fast as I have in my life. The car ride was so scary. Both babies couldn’t stop yelling and it has just broken me seeing them in so much pain. I reached from Parramatta to the Animal Referral Hospital Homebush Veterinary Specialists in about 6 minutes.

 

 

 

 

 

The costs are unknown at this current time due to the extent of the injuries and the procedures which are going to need to be done to bring Misty and Benji back. They were both just given methadone for pain relief however there is a worry about nerve damage due to the severity of both wounds on both dogs front legs where there are a lot of nerves. 

 

I have done my best in providing for my babies with a $3000 down payment which was due immediately following their consultation, however, this was all the money which I have saved now I’m in a position where I can’t repay the total amount remaining nor can I pay my rent for the next couple of weeks. The consultation fee is provided below.
